MBC officially cancels 'ISAC' for this year's Chuseok

Bad news for everyone hoping to see their faves competing on the track this holiday season—MBC has officially confirmed that the Idol Star Athletics Championships (ISAC) is taking a break for this year's Chuseok.

On August 14th, MBC reps told the media that scheduling the event was basically impossible this time around because the Chuseok holidays directly overlap with the Asian Games.

It’s honestly a huge bummer. ISAC has been a massive holiday tradition for K-Pop fans since the very first one aired back in 2010. For 15 years, it’s been the ultimate place to catch rare idol interactions, funny behind-the-scenes moments, and intense fandom cheer battles. But since the Asian Games are a major national broadcast, it makes sense that ISAC had to take a backseat this year.

We really got spoiled last year, though! If you remember the 2025 Chuseok Special for their 15th anniversary, they went totally all out. They brought in 61 different teams and 374 idols in total. We got everything from track and field and ssireum (Korean wrestling) to pistol shooting, penalty shootouts, and even dance sports.

It looks like we'll just have to survive on old ISAC clips this Chuseok and hope they bring the iconic tracksuits back next year.

Her high-energy lineup featured vibrant reinterpretations of Jewelry’s "I Really Like You," Park Myung-soo’s summer classic "Prince of the Sea," and Uhm Jung-hwa’s iconic "Invitation." The crowd received an extra surprise during "Invitation"—which was officially released on streaming platforms the same day—when BTOB's Lee Min-hyuk...
