Nana, Kim Dan, and Jung Gun-joo are teaming up for Netflix’s next psychological crime thriller, Maderesa, and the premise alone promises plenty of sharp, slow-burn tension.
The story centers on Maderesa (Nana), a razor-sharp, emotionally detached criminal psychologist and university professor brought in to crack high-profile cold cases that have the public on edge. Nana, who has already proven her edge in gritty projects like Mask Girl and Glitch, plays a woman who can outsmart ruthless criminals in the interrogation room, even as the hunt drags her own buried trauma back to the surface.
What makes the project particularly interesting is the friction within her inner circle. Kim Dan plays Park Seol, Maderesa’s assistant, who hides a tangled web of secrets and an unhealthy craving for approval behind a polite, harmless smile. On the other side is Yoo Ah-ram, played by Jung Gun-joo, a grounded prosecutor and Maderesa’s longtime friend who helps with the legal footwork while keeping a very suspicious eye on the assistant hovering around her.
The talent behind the camera is just as solid. Director Jang Young-woo (Queen of Tears) is set to helm the project, bringing a knack for complex emotional dynamics to the director's chair. Meanwhile, the script comes from Kwon So-ra and Seo Jae-won, the writing duo behind the cult-favorite thriller The Guest. Produced by Showrunners, Maderesa will stream globally on Netflix.
