Former Sechskies member Go Ji-yong is facing renewed public criticism amid an ongoing dispute with his ex-wife, Heo Yang-im, involving child support payments and visitation rights.
Writer So Jae-won recently addressed the controversy on social media, saying he was concerned about the emotional impact the conflict could have on the child. He questioned whether parental responsibilities should be addressed before discussions about visitation and parental rights.
So Jae-won, who described himself as a single father with parental rights and custody of his own children, shared his experience of continuing to communicate with his former wife about their children's welfare after divorce. He said that, despite financial difficulties, his ex-wife continues to contribute most of her salary toward their children.
He argued that disagreements between divorced parents should not overshadow their responsibilities toward their children. According to his comments, ensuring that children see both parents taking responsibility is more important than determining which parent "wins" a dispute.
The comments came as reports about Go Ji-yong's family dispute continued to attract attention.
Child Support Dispute
According to reports, Go Ji-yong and Heo Yang-im agreed to monthly child support of approximately 1.89 million won when they divorced by mutual agreement in April 2024.
YouTuber Lee Jin-ho reportedly claimed that around 40 million won in child support remained unpaid, with the total reportedly reaching approximately 50 million won when interest was included. Reports also stated that legal and asset-collection procedures were initiated over the unpaid amount.
Go Ji-yong's side has disputed the suggestion that the payments were intentionally withheld. His representatives reportedly explained that he experienced financial difficulties while undergoing treatment for serious health problems and hospitalization.
His side has also stated that he intended to settle the overdue payments through installments after his financial and health situation improved. Reports indicate that 3.26 million won was paid in two installments during August and September.
Visitation Rights Also Under Dispute
The controversy extends beyond child support. Go Ji-yong's side has reportedly sought legal measures concerning visitation, including an injunction against alleged interference with his visitation rights and restrictions concerning the publication of photographs or videos of the child.
His side claims that he was able to see his son only around six times during the approximately two years following the divorce.
Meanwhile, Heo Yang-im's side has reportedly pursued legal measures to collect the allegedly unpaid child support.
So Jae-won's Message About Co-Parenting
So Jae-won also shared a message about his relationship with his own former wife, emphasizing that although their marriage ended, they remain connected as parents.
He said that seeing their children grow up happily and understanding both parents has helped him view their post-divorce relationship differently.
His comments have drawn attention because they came at a time when Go Ji-yong and Heo Yang-im's dispute over child support and visitation remains unresolved.
Go Ji-yong and Heo Yang-im married in 2013 and welcomed their son in 2014. They divorced in 2024, although news of their separation became public only in July 2026.
As the dispute continues, statements from both sides and the outcome of the related legal proceedings are expected to provide further clarity on the child support and visitation issues.
